81st Academy Awards 2009

Many stars sashayed down the red carpeting last evening, many nominees for an Academy Award but they all could not be winners.

Sean Penn was the big leading Man winner for his role in "Milk." He used his winner speech time to insult those who voted against the gay marriage amendment in California.

Japanese School Girls

Sean, to me, is a weird actor. He doesn't look like a leading man like Gary Cooper or John Wayne or Tom Hanks or Michael Douglas. Yet, he is not wimpy and he adds an intensity to every role he plays. He is not my popular actor, but sometimes I am mesmerized by his carrying out on the screen.

How could a face like Sean's ever get into the movies?

Kate Winslet, for her role in "The Reader," won the leading Woman Award. Kate is such a great actress and she was foreseen, to win. She said, "I'd be lying if I haven't made a version of this speech before. I think I was probably 8 years old and staring into the bathroom mirror and this (Oscar) would be a shampoo bottle. But it's not a shampoo bottle now."

The Oscars are what some little girls and boys dream of. They are what some old men and women dream of.

The Oscar statuette is a knight with crusader's sword standing on a reel of film. It weighs eight-and-a-half pounds. It is thirteen-and-a-half inches tall and is made of gold-plated britannium, a metal alloy. R.S. Owens & business of Chicago makes the statuettes in excess of those needed because it is hard to predict the exact amount that will be needed. One aggregate is: Sn : 93%, Sb : 3%, Cu : 2%. What, no high school chemistry? Tin, Antimony, Copper.

Despite the weight of the award, the actors carried them colse to later to the many parties that followed.

I all the time get a kick out the losers. They seem so happy for the actual winner although they are very disappointed not to win.

Stiff upper lip!

Sometimes you could see a "happy" face turn into a sorrowful one.

It is difficult to get nominated.

It is more difficult to win.

So, not winning might also mean giving up the only opportunity to win in ones life.

Yet, just to be nominated is very leading and has its own market rewards. You will all the time be known as a nominee.

The Winning picture was Slumdog Millionaire.

It was fun to watch the cast, producers and director during the presentations. When it was their turn to take the stand, about half of the audience went to the stand.

Nobody was left out.

O.K. Maybe it was not one-half of the audience, but close.

I noticed that the Japanese and the Indians wanted everybody to get some credit, so up to the stage.

The settings for this years Academy Awards was amazingly good. It was the best that I've seen and I am an old man.

David Rockwell, architect and designer, created a party-like setting that was at times to me comfortable and informal. Yet the new proscenium curtain comprised of roughly 100,000 Swarovski crystals in a variety of shapes and sizes, revealed the high-profile fashion connected with the event.

Something else that seemed new to me was parading out five previous award winners to commentary on the five nominees. There was some variation between the old and the new.

Well, some were not that old.

I all the time like to watch the presentation on those who have passed during the year. Unlike most of us, there is some lingering proximity of dead actors. They continue to live in the movies they made.

Jerry Lewis received a extra award for his humanitarianism. He gave a short, dignified speech showing no pretension.

Now, that was nice!

One image that will live with me is Meryl Steep who has been nominated fifteen times. She got a lot of praise from the podium and she all the time put her hands to her breast as if to say, "Little Old Me?"

She is such a great actress, knows she is a great actress, but tries to be humble. My popular role for her was "Out of Africa" with Robert Redford who I did not see at the Oscars.

He was probably watching form Park City, Utah or such.

What a great show!

Book chronicle - Hotel at the corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford

The first Henry Lee we meet in Hotel at the angle of Bitter and Sweet is a middle-aged widow trudging his way home with shopping bags hanging at his side. A taciturn, forlorn man. It is 1986.

The second Henry we meet is his 12-year-old self, a Chinese American school boy, whose father pins a badge on his collar proclaiming, "I am Chinese." As Henry knows all too well, those words aren't sufficient to safe him from taunts and bullying at the hands of his classmates. It is after all 1942, Seattle, and the beginning of World War Ii. Chinese or not, in the eyes of his Caucasian classmates, Henry is still "yellow."

Japanese School Girls

Isolated at home by parents who insist he speak English, which neither parent understands, and alienated at school by students, Henry finds his only friend in Keiko, a young Japanese girl. As scholarship students, the two work in the bistro during lunch and after school cleaning blackboards and erasers. They swiftly bond, and their friendship blossoms into young love.

Two obstacles stand in their way. Henry's father despises the Japanese for historical reasons, as well as Japan's brutality in its current war on China. Anything or thing tainted by Japanese blood is hated, so Henry must carry on his friendship in secret.

The second and far more serious obstacle for Henry and Keiko is the country's xenophobia in the wake of Pearl Harbor. It doesn't matter that Japanese Americans think of themselves as Americans first and, as Keiko insists, many like herself were born in American hospitals, speak no Japanese, and feel no allegiance toward Japan. Suspicion of Japanese spies and saboteurs is pervasive. And it gives nothing away in this story to say that Keiko and her house come to be victims of that suspicion.

The roundup scenes depicted in Bitter and Sweet are frightening and horrific, reminiscent of other roundups in European cities half-way colse to the world. Thankfully, this country's basic goodness ensured that, although taken unfairly, the interned Japanese Americans were treated humanely-at least in the camps. The record is hardly so good upon their return, when they found their properties, farms, and businesses sold out from under them. We recognize some of that in this novel as well.

Jamie Ford's novel moves gracefully, back and forth, in the middle of the two time frames-war years and four decades later, which is when a stash of Japanese-American belongings turns up in the basement of an old hotel. The middle-aged Henry is clear that something precious to him is to be found in those long-lost boxes and trunks-and he goes in crusade of it. Clearly, Henry is finding to reclaim a vital piece of of his own past. It is the satisfaction of this debut novel that we get to crusade along with him.

The Makuya Movement in Israel

The Makuya movement was born In May of 1948, the same month and year in which Israel declared her independence. But the Makuya don't believe in coincidence. In fact, they reconsider the preparation of the modern State of Israel and the reunification of Jerusalem 19 years later to be the fulfillment of biblical prophecies, miraculous works of God.

Often called New Zionism, the Makuya movement was founded by a successful Japanese businessman: the late Professor Abraham Ikuro Teshima. Professor Teshima was a deeply religious Christian who had early on come to be disenchanted with the established Church and its western trappings. But he hadn't yet heard the Divine voice. That would come later, a few years after World War Ii.

Japanese School Girls

Following the Japanese defeat, Teshima tried to help his starving countrymen by producing bread out of seaweed. But it tasted awful, and the factories ended down. Then an American army camp near his home decided to expand. Teshima heard the news from his son, who reported with sorrow that the Americans were planning to close his elementary school and take over the property on which it stood.

Teshima immediately organized a large protest that greatly angered the Americans. When a friend warned Teshima of his imminent arrest, he went into hiding in the wilderness. It was while he was in the volcanic Aso Mountains that he had a personal encounter with God, and heard a phrase from the book of Amos: "I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord."

Now he understood that the Japanese famine was not physical, but spiritual. He realized that the Japanese had to return to the basics, to the source - to God. When he was able to safely return home, he ended his business and began teaching the Bible. He had only a handful of students in the beginning. But it was a start, and soon afterwards he founded the Makuya.

Teshima maintained that in order to grasp the spirit of the Bible, it was principal to reach a deeper understanding of the Jewish faith, its people, language and history. Unfortunately, his burning desire to visit Israel was delayed for many years, until Japan and Israel established gentle relations in 1961.

As luck would have it, however, in 1954 Teshima met his first Israeli - while riding on a Japanese train! He conception the citizen next to him might be speaking Hebrew and when he inquired, in English, he learned that they were from Israel. One of them was Professor Israel Slomnitzki, on a mission from the Israeli Agriculture Ministry. The two struck up an immediate friendship, corresponded for years, and in 1961 Slomnitzki invited Teshima to visit his homeland.

Once in Israel, Teshima was unhappy that so many of Israel's holy sites were covered up with churches. But he was delighted to meet pioneers, thrilled at their endeavor to generate a viable state, and convinced that the soul of Judaism was alive and well. So taken was Teshima with the Jewish State that he returned a amount of times, bringing some of his disciples along.

Soon Makuya members had begun learning Hebrew at a special school called an ulpan in Kibbutz Hephziba. Many ulpan graduates have gone on to schools of higher learning in Israel: to date more than 880 students have attended classes or graduated from the Bar Ilan and the Hebrew university, the Technion, and the universities in Haifa and Beer Sheba. They learn archeology, Bible, and Jewish conception as well as music and other subjects, and their mastery of Hebrew is amazing.

Begun with only a sprinkling of Bible students, the Makuya movement is growing fast. The Makuya prefer not to give an exact number, citing David's sinful census of his fighting men (2 Shmuel: 24:2). But over 300,000 Japanese subscribe to the Makuya newsletter. Thousands of Makuya have already been on pilgrimages to Israel, with thousands more planning to come.

Just now over a dozen students live at the Jerusalem Makuya Center. Each has a Hebrew name, taken, or given to him or her upon advent in Israel. They chat indubitably about their faith, which is based heavily on the Old Testament and doesn't comprise even a hint of proselytism. But none of the Makuya will discuss politics. They will talk with feeling, however, about their position on Israel. Every Makuya, they say proudly, identifies with - and wholeheartedly supports - the State of Israel.

Outward manifestations of withhold began in 1967, before the onset of the Six Day War, when Teshima set up the "Israel crisis Relief Committee of Japan."  He flew to Israel with relief goods as soon as the war broke out, and not long afterwards he entered reunited Jerusalem to pray at the Western Wall.

Six years later, Israel was attacked by the combined forces of Egypt and Syria. A threatened oil boycott had caused Japan to reverse its regularly neutral position and adopt a blatantly pro-Arab stand.

"Israel cannot, indubitably must not, be forsaken in her time of need," declared Teshima. Although gravely ill, he organized a large pro-Israel demonstration in downtown Tokyo. It extended over two kilometers and more than 3,000 men, women and children sang joyful Hebrew songs as they danced in the streets. Teshima, who had put his heart and soul into the demonstration, insisted on participating despite the bitter winter cold. He died three weeks later, at the age of 63.

No leader has taken Teshima's place, but the Makuya corollary in his path. They planted several forests in Teshima's honor, and donated heavily to a Jewish National Fund scheme for addition water resources in the Negev.  When the Jewish division ran out of funds for the ulpan at Kibbutz Hephziba, the Makuya began financing its operation. And every few years, Makuya members come to Israel in large numbers to celebrate Independence Day.

Ulpans in several large Japanese cities have already taught Hebrew to over 1,000 Japanese - and not all of them were Makuya. Many Japanese are interested in learning the language of Israel, due, no doubt, to the fact that the Makuya who visit and study here provide a concrete bridge in the middle of the two countries.

Makuya, in Hebrew, translates as "tent of meeting" - the Hebrew "ohel moed" or the place where man encounters God.         Teshima taught that you can find God anywhere, and that it is not principal to pray in a church. Therefore Makuya worship in houses where they also read the Bible, and study its lessons.

Like Teshima himself, a Makuya minister is called a teacher, and he is well versed in the Bible and other sources. Often he has a regular job and leads his congregation only on the weekends.  The Makuya object to institutionalized Christianity and there is no central Makuya religious authority, although a committee of district representatives meets every few months to discuss the movement. Baptism is spiritual - a advent of age ceremony when boys and girls reach the age of 13 and accept adult responsibilities. It takes place on Mount Aso, where Teshima had his encounter with the Lord.

Sometimes visitors to Jerusalem are entertained in the Center's lovely Japanese garden, or are taken through the third floor library with its Menorah, certificates of appreciation to the Makuya and to its founder, and a special pair of binoculars that Teshima brought here as a gift and which proved highly helpful while the 1973 war.
Members of the Makuya movement in Israel emphasize that the Israelis they meet take them into their hearts. "We feel like Israelis, like we are at home".

The New American Lunch Box

Take a itsybitsy to reflect back... Remember when you were kid? Now, try to conjure up this exact childhood memory - your amazing lunch box! You were cool, fun, and felt unavoidable sporting this brand new piece of gear. This box and what it was filled with often reflected who you were. It was your first independent introduction into society. After all, didn't your very own lunch box mean you were ultimately a big kid!

Boys often carried western or space themed lunch boxes, girls went with Barbie, and younger children with a wide variety of Disney characters. All I remember is that I was stuck carrying the plaid fabricate and the girl over the street, Cheryl Shelmadine, had a Lassie the Wonder Dog lunch box. I didn't. What were my parents thinking? Regardless of the style, lunch boxes have represented, as well as reflected, a major part of American cultural history.

Japanese School Girls

Luckily for our children, we live in a dynamic area. We can gain entrance to the amazing traditions of so many cultures. Once incorporated with our fresh local foods, and given a twist on presentation... Poof! The new American lunch box - the bento box.

Bento boxes surfaced in Japan about 900 years ago with the creation of hoshi-ii. Hoshi-ii means "dried meal" - it is rice that has been cooked and then dried. Bento boxes were once uncomplicated containers housing individually packaged portions of rice, meat or fish, and pickled or cooked vegetables. Through the ages, they have progressed from oak or bamboo leaf wrapped portions into lacquered wooden boxes, shiny aluminum, and modern day plastics.

There are contests held where people compete to win prizes and reputation for designing the most elaborate bento boxes. This type of artistic bento is called a kyaraben. They aesthetically arrange the foods to seem people, flowers, plants, or animals. Some are so beautiful they look too good to eat... Well almost!

Of course, bento boxes are still available today in many locations throughout Japan, but now bento boxes are taking America by storm! primary Japanese bento boxes are fast becoming the must have lunch box for otherwise brown paper baggers. A visit to today's school cafeterias might have some parents mental they've stepped into a new culture when they see these trendy new lunch containers. It's not all about appearances though - bento boxes are fun to fill, pleasing to the palette, preclude foods from getting smashed, and make packing a lunch both cost and time effective.

Lunch boxes today are still the ultimate in personal style and expression. Even not carrying one is often for the sake of fashion. Anything your taste, lunch boxes continue to be a reflection of American culture. The bento box is naturally a plastic package housing other various shaped containers for your foods stuffs. Sometimes they are stacked, quadrate round, flat, or Anything your desire. There are designer bento boxes are available featuring favorite cartoon characters and fun designs - hopefully not plaid. You can even accessorize your bento with fun flatware to match, and itsybitsy bottles no larger than your thumb for salad dressings, soy sauces or other flavorings of your choice.

I recently purchased a "laptop bento" for my daughter, Danielle. It came in a thermal cooled case that resembles a notebook computer - and of course, it was practically the same price. It is a typical bento for a "Middle Schooler" - not too flashy. Once opened, the case reveals spaces for all dissimilar kinds of goodies. Each space has its own lid and they fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. She actually loves it!

Packing A Bento

No matter how old my kids get, they still love helping to pack their lunches with fun foods. When we go hunting for bento box fun we frequent the Japanese dollar store in uptown in San Mateo. They have a great variety of kid kindly lunch packing items. One of my favorites are the food molds. With actually no major artistic kitchen skills you can shape foods into uncomplicated animals, cars, trucks, trains, plants, or people shapes. Try them out with brown rice and veggies for an Asian flair, tuna or chicken salad, eggs, or even make must-have-meatballs with them!

Just like the use of the Japanese containers - use fusion when packing them. California nouvelle cuisine is a blend of cultures, using fresh local ingredients and new fun presentation style on any superior meal. These tiny treasure chests are great for serving up leftovers in a fresh new way that will have your children eager to see last night's meal again. Remember to be creative and artistic when packing a bento and to involve your child. Use cookie cutters to make uniquely shaped "tea sandwiches", layer foods for presentation, and comprise itsybitsy containers of their favorite dips. The good it looks and the more input they have the more likely they are to eat it!

Use these fun lunch packs and fuse some of your own cultural sensations inside. Here are some ideas to get you going. Incorporating a variety of foods your child enjoys will make them much less likely to succumb when they hear "I'll trade you!" in the cafeteria.

Mac 'n Cheese - Left over macaroni and cheese, fresh sliced tomatoes, steamed veggies, and fresh finger fruits (grapes, berries, cherries, cubed melons, sliced kiwi, etc.). They'll be sure to devour this child kindly favorite. All housed in the separate containers or pressed into fun shapes.

Snack assault - Diced fresh finger fruits and veggies, sliced cheeses, cubed turkey breast or ham, and multi-grain crackers make for a delightful blend of flavors and nutrition. Don't forget to add crackers and your favorite vinaigrette in a small fun sized bento squeeze bottle.

Dinner for lunch- -Your favorite shaped meatballs, brown rice, sliced fresh veggies, and low-fat yogurt to dip. This bento is also great with leftover spaghetti!

Pot Roast Personified - Diced left over pot roast, roasted root veggies, fresh finger fruits, and a orchad salad. Served cold, with a piece of buttered whole grained pita bread.

Super Salads - Molded tuna, chicken, or seafood salad, whole grain crackers, fresh fruits and veggies, and cute baby cheese. Don't forget to add sliced red bell peppers. They are actually sweet to eat - especially with cream cheese to dip them in.

Now, with some bento contact under my belt I can actually say that not only do kids love these crafty containers - but I do too. They are also great for picnics, tour lunches, or any time you'll be away from home. They just make sense! One more leading thing... Bento boxes do want some washing after the box arrives home. This is someone else great opening though to get the kids complex and teach some early childhood responsibility as they help wash up their lunch box and get it ready for the next day.

Looking for some more creative lunch suggestions or ways to fuel your child's passion for cooking? Check out the fun filled classes and summer camps at Kids Culinary Adventures. We'll even teach them about the importance of clean up!

Dj Spotlight feature Interview - Dj BoriQua - One-On-One Exclusive

Intro

Dj BoriQua

Japanese School Girls

Hailing originally from Puerto Rico, Dj BoriQua (a.k.a. Orlando Felix) has been largely inspired by an infectious enthusiasm his father imparted to him as a child. "I by all means; of course have a lot more to learn about Salsa . . . But I also have much to share from the knowledge and taste I've been so fortunate to attain." As it is with any Bay Area Latin Djs, one of his former goals in this role, is to help educate about the music - with its rich history, culture and the diversity of the artists who have contributed so greatly to the Latin music movement.

Dj BoriQua speaks to some of the differences we may barely consideration or answer about the music we hear played on the radio, at Latin music and dance events, and in the clubs that we attend. Most likely, it's because most of us have no idea what we're authentically listening and/or dancing to! You might be in a beloved San Francisco club playing old school salsa (salsa in its purest form); then just twenty minutes down the peninsula, you could find yourself in another club, bathed in a Central or South American salsa flavor with music that comes out of Colombia!

Interview

Mg: How and when did you get started as a Dj?

Djb: I never authentically intended to be a Dj, but I started buying salsa music while growing up in my native Puerto Rico. After joining the U.S. Air Force in 1992, they stationed me in Okinawa, Japan for 3 years. There, I started buying insane amounts of Salsa Cd's - to keep me close to the feeling of home. ;-) In 1999 I was deployed to Saudi Arabia, where I began Djing "Latin Night", alongside other troops members, as part of the Air Force's Morale, Welfare and Recreation Program. I prolonged Djing "Latin Night" in the Air Force at South Korea (2000), and ultimately inside Travis Air Force base in Fairfield, Ca (2001-2003). Here in the Bay Area, my first occasion to Dj was given to me by Stephanie Palmeri at Steppin' Out Dance Studio in Sunnyvale.

Mg: What were some of the former influences on your amelioration as a Dj?

Djb: My most major sway would be my father. He educated me on the history of Mambo, Guanguanco, Pachanga, and other styles from the 50s and 60s. He had so many vinyls in the house and we use to listen to the music on a daily basis. He would tell us stories about the music scene in New York City and Puerto Rico. He also informed us about the famous musicians of the time, the instruments they played, etc. I never got tired of it. My brother Danny has also been an inspiration. He is a major music form down in Jacksonville, Fl - both as a radio Dj and also as a promoter.

Mg: What is your current involvement in the Sf Bay Area salsa scene?

Djb: Currently, I've been prime (alongside the hottest Djs in the Bay Area), to spin for the second year in a row at the 7th every year Sf Bay Area International Salsa Congress. I am one of the resident Djs at GlasKat Lounge in San Francisco, alongside Dj Super Chino and Dj EldelaClave. With the help of Rodney "Rodchata" Aquino, I became one of the resident Djs at Sh Boom! Nightclub in San Ramon, where Dj Super Chino spins as well. I am the Dj for the every year Sonoma County Salsa Festival in Santa Rosa and assist EldelaClave at the AfinKao dance company's monthly public at The Beat studio in Berkeley. . . Where I am one of the significant dancers. In increasing to these Dj responsibilities, I also teach a beginner On1 salsa dance class at Gold's Gym in Santa Clara, alongside my gorgeous girlfriend Nashely.

Mg: How would you delineate your singular style?

Djb: I try to Dj at a tempo where the dancers can illustrate the music. You also have to be aware of the crowd where you are Djing. So, I'd like to think that I spin for the dancers . . . Being that I am one of them.

Mg: What do you think are the former differences in the middle of salsa in the Bay Area salsa and salsa in other parts of the world?

Djb: Well, I think the Sf Bay Area is unique because of the diversity in dancers. For example, in the World Salsa Championships, we've had finalists in most every division. We had 1st and 2nd place winners in the team divisions, 2nd and 3rd in the On2 division, and top ten in the On1 division. That's a lot of talent and as you can see, we are well represented across the board. In the nightclub scene, you can find live music roughly every night of the week somewhere in the Bay Area. Sometimes you'll have two or more venues with live bands on the same night! We are truly blessed in the Bay Area to have so many options to support and celebrate our love of Latin music and dance!!

Mg: What would you say are the strengths/weaknesses in the Bay Area salsa community?

Djb: Our impel is by all means; of course the unity in the salsa scene. We seem to support each other here and surface of the Bay Area. We are authentically proud of the stock that comes out of this region. Our weakness might be the fact that we can fall victim to our own success. If everyone that turns out flourishing in the scene tries to make a buck, it could lead to the scene being too divided, which could lead to a "watered down" corollary of what's offered overall.

Presently, I think we're where we're supposed to be . . . United!!

Mg: The Bay Area is famous for innovation in many pursuits and salsa is no exception. What is your reaction to what Giju has done with his first, and first ever Hindi/Salsa cross-over album "Rang Rangeeli yeh Duniya?

Djb: I remember back in 1991 I saw Orquesta De La Luz (Japanese Salsa Band) achieve at the University of Puerto Rico and I concept to myself, "Wow, this is amazing!!!" Today, we have Giju fusing Hindi with Salsa and he hit it out of the park!!! Truly, Salsa is worldwide, crossing all boundaries!! The sky is the limit for him and I wish him all the best of luck with this and any other task he has arrival in the future.

Mg: What do you think is the most leading role of the Dj?

Djb: To know your music. You are part of the salsa movement when you decree to spin. Be one with the dancers and the listeners who attend your events. Always remember . . . They are there to support you, so don't let them down. There's nothing great than seeing a listener bobbing their head up and down while they down rum and cokes, roughly in a trance like state. And those dancers that let you know what a great job you did that singular night - there's no great feeling than that!

Mg: What changes would you like to see in the Bay Area salsa society and in the salsa scene at large?

Djb: I'd like to see more public dancing by the troupe performers. Performing is a gorgeous thing, but bring your dancing to the public floor so you can inspire the casual guy/girl attending an event. Let them say, "Man, I want to dance like that!!!"

Mg: Is music your full-time occupation or do you have another occupation you pursue in increasing to your role as Dj?

Djb: Believe it or not, I am an Air Traffic Controller at San Carlos Airport on the Peninsula. I've been a controller for over 16 years (11 of them in the Air Force). I Dj and instruct as my side gigs. I'm also a proud parent. My son Devin is 13 and my daughter Brianna is 9. They live in South Carolina.

Mg: Is there whatever else you'd like to share with our readers?

Djb: I'm proud to be a part of the Bay Area salsa scene. I've made some great friends as a part of this experience, Djs, dance firm directors, and everyday dancers and supporters of the scene. Every singular one of them work hard to inspire others and for that, we should be grateful.

Thank you for the occasion to express myself.

* * *

Thank you for spending this time with us, Dj BoriQua. We will look forward to learning more of what you have to share And to catch you along with any other of our top Djs including: Dj Fab Fred, Dj El dela Clave, Dj La Coqui, Dj Frank and Dj Nelson Flores at the upcoming premiere west coast salsa event:

We're so fortunate with the level of Dj talent present here in the Sf Bay Area. Next time you're out dancing and hear a song you appreciate, let the Dj know - question about the artist, the origin, the era of the music. It might just broaden your mind. . . And will by all means; of course enrich your taste of Salsa!!

Tattoo Designs For Men

Tattoos are now becoming more beloved than ever to make a personal statement and more and more designs are being created which includes many new tattoo designs for men. Most of the old type designs have completely changed in looks. The doors have been flung open for new designs and more ways of expression.

Here is a small list of the most beloved mens tattoo designs:

Japanese School Girls

Wing Tattoos Celtic Arm Tattoos Tribal Tattoos Japanese Tattoos Sailor or Old School Tattoos Cross, Animals or Font Tattoos
Wing tattoos normally contain ones depicting, eagles, hawks, vultures and the like and are settled on the chest or shoulders.

Tribal tattoos accumulate from the Polynesian and Haida tribes. These tattoos often are representing forms of strength, masculinity, and power. They also use dark lines and curved or angular edges. The tribal designs are normally very bold in statement and range in size from small to large.

Perhaps the most old of them all is the Japanese tattoos. Once designers started using colored ink they became increasingly more popular. Especially when it came to the designs of Dragons, Koi fish, and Kanji. These particular tattoo designs recount force and courage and can be settled anywhere on the body. Originally they were rather large tattoos that we often settled on the whole body or the back because of their great size. Any way today they are just as beloved but have come to be smaller pieces of beautiful artwork.

In the western part of the world the most commonly used and seen tattoo form is that of sailor or old school tattoos. These tattoos are being redesigned into more contemporary styles that are much bolder with edgy keen colors. Some of these tattoo designs include: pinup girls, maritime and star designs. normally these are chosen for their special meanings and are settled on the arm.

Crosses, animals and font style designs still remain very beloved today and as well are very often highly detailed tattoos. With the new advancements being made in inks and styles of tattoos, all of the ones I have mentioned are tasteless tattoo designs for me that still reman quite beloved today..

If you have carefully or are considering getting a tattoo, do as much explore as you can Before choosing one. Always remember that in choosing your tattoo form to choose something that has a special meaning, personality or style you love. One that you can still see yourself having in long years to come is also important. The location you choose to place it on your body is also very prominent as well.

Roaming Fingers - A Story of A Childhood Sexual Molestation

We have all had our "stories" to tell about our lives growing up. Some have had fun loving childhoods in which they had a stay-at-home mom, who had home baked cookies ready for them as soon as they walked in from school, clean clothes ready for the next day, and evening meal simmering on the stove. Dads arrived home, everyone sat at the table and enjoyed the appetizing meal that mom had prepared, and then while evening meal dishes were being cleaned up, the kids could tell their dad about their day. Some had parents that encouraged them, helped them with their homework after supper, and enjoyed spending time with their kids before the next day started. You know, one of those "Leave It To Beaver" type of families. Then there were those who were minus one parents for one infer or another...usually divorce or death. Or what about those that lived with alcoholic or drug addicted parents who weren't indeed "parents" at all. Their kids were basically were on their own, raising themselves, fending for themselves, and production the most of bad situations.

I don't know why I am sharing this right now. I just feel led to let person out there know that you are not alone! That you can live a normal life. I have been molested by 4 separate men between the ages of 8 - 14. But, the Lord God Himself, brought me through this all. I have been been redeemed and washed clean by the blood of the Lord. I no longer have to live in life of my molestation taking fee over me any longer.

Japanese School Girls

I was one of those kids who had my own "unique" circumstances when growing up. My parents divorced when I was 7, though my dad moved out when I was 5 ½. I was the oldest of the three of us. We moved to a small town to live closer to my grandparents, my mom's parents. We moved from the bigger metropolis of Denver, Co, to the small town of Julesburg, Co. At first, when I was younger, I'd made my lifelong friend with the girl who lived across the road from my grandparent's house. This was the summer before our 2nd grade school year. While the time, our lives seemed somewhat "normal" playing babies, or pretending to be teachers at school, or building ant farms...

But While my lifetime, many things happened that made me who I am today. I cannot begin to tell you what my life was like and do it justice! There are so many more stories I could tell you! For one, we moved and lived in 27 separate places from the time I turned 7 - 18. I went to 11 schools in 12 years time. I think that that with us attractive so often, I took with me idea that "I good make friends quickly, because sure adequate we'd be attractive and I'd have to leave." I believe my sister took the theory that "why bother production friends because we were going to move anyway." And my brother, well, being a boy, retention a friend wasn't that big of a deal, and he made friends fairly easy, but it wasn't as big an issue for him as it was us girls.

When I was 8, my mom began dating a Japanese farmer in our area, fast becoming engaged, with the last name of Kinoshita. As you can imagine, the 3 of us kids made quite fun of that name at the time by intentionally pronouncing it, Kin-O-Shit-A. Mean, weren't we? Well this is the first time that I consider myself being sexually molested. After suppers, my mom would go to the kitchen to wash dishes at his house, and the 3 of us kids and her boyfriend would lie on the floor to watch some Tv. Well her fiance' would use this time to "rub my tummy." Now I was 8, so needing my tubby rubbed after evening meal seemed indeed weird to me, but I thought, okay, I suppose if this is normal? It made me uncomfortable, but my mom said he was only trying to be nice. Okay, so nice it was...I guess?? But then those tummy rubs, turned into "roaming fingers," and climbed a petite higher and a petite higher. Soon my tummy rubs became chest rubs. Now mind you, I had barely started developing, but still had just adequate that this made me incredibly uncomfortable! My mom had said that she indeed wanted this marriage because he was financially well off, and so each night that this went on, I tried to keep myself busy with homework so we didn't have to lie on the floor and watch Tv, but one way or another, he coaxed me in to it, and my mom had told us some times that she didn't want this connection messed up by us kids. So, I kept my mouth shut, until one day, on the way home from school, I let it all out to my friend. She went home and talked to her mom. I didn't know what they were talking about, because her parents only spoke Spanish, so I didn't think much of it. However, her mom, having heard what was going on, assured me that they were there for me, and that this was something that I had to talk to my mom about right away. So with my friend and her mom both sitting there, I called my mom and told her what had been happening. I don't know much how was indeed said between my mom to her new fiance', but I do know that she broke up with him. However, my friend's mom suggested that he be turned in to the police, but my mom said that it was pointless to call the police because "he was so rich that he can own the town, so no one will believe you anyway. It would be his word against yours," she said. So, life went on as "normal." Okay, normal as normal could be.

Then my mom found a younger guy who could come over in the mornings and stay with us, when she went to work at 6:00 Am at the truck stop, and he got off at 6:00 Am from working the all night shift there, and would come stay with the three of us kids for the day, as our "babysitter." Oh he was fun, would make us breakfast, take us to the school or the park to play on the playground, and chase us colse to the house playing tickle monster. However, when he first got to the house each morning, instead of climbing in to my mom's empty bed to sleep for a while, he would climb in to my bed with me. Why? Well there were those "roaming fingers" again. Except this time, these fingers roamed up, and then down. I was 9, and he was 21. What did I have at that age that was so enticing anyway?! I hadn't even started physically developing yet for goodness sake!!! At any rate, this went on for weeks. I told my mom, but she she belief that since I had been through this with her ex-fiance', then "it must me something I was doing to encourage these guys." So, though he stopped watching us, I remember wishing him dead. I did. I couldn't help myself. I just wanted him dead so he could never do something like this again! A couple of months later, while he was working at the galvanic company, and his partner decided to start drinking some beer on their lunch break. Well Curtis had climbed the pole to work on a specific wire that was causing them trouble, and was electrocuted. He fell from the pole, and his partner, having been drinking, wasn't functional adequate to give him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. I knew it was all my doing! I had prayed and asked for him to die, and he had. You see, it was all my fault...I had wished it, and prayed for that. I just knew it was my fault. I held on to that guilt for many, many years after that. person was dead and it was all my fault.

Then, we had a house friend, who we'd been friends with he and his wife for years. In fact, most times, we loved going over to their house. She was like an adopted mom to us kids, and we could convince her husband to come play games with us, read us stories, etc. You should have heard him read one of the Dr. Seuss books backwards! It was a riot! And it was a tongue twister reading it from front to back, let alone reading it back to front! And we used to love tricking him in to asking for Big Macs at Burger King! So, needless to say, we would go over to their house quite often. Ordinarily though, I got the big bed with his wife because we always went to bed much earlier than he did, and he slept on the couch when we stayed, or in the spare bedroom. His wife would Ordinarily send me in to wake him when it was time for us all to get up each morning. That's when those infamous "roaming fingers" would start roaming again. I was between the ages of 10 - 12 While most of this time. But, without telling my mom, (remember how she had decided the last time that I must be the one to enticing these "men,") that sure enough, it must be something about me, and once again, I was at fault.

Well over time, we'd moved again like we had done numerous other times before, and so we didn't see them as often as we had before. It was in the starting of our 8th grade year, so I was in one school there in Jr. High, and suddenly we left Co and headed to good ole' Ia. My mom had broken up with a trucker guy she was dating, a real nutty guy who used to set up candles in a circle in our basement, and call on the spirits from the Mojave Dessert. So, we packed up as soon as we got home from school that day, took only our few very prominent possessions (and I do mean very few), and our cats, and loaded up a small petite U-haul trailer, and off we headed out with no where specific in mind. My mom suggested Ia, so off we headed West. We ended up in Council Bluffs and out of money. So, this is where we decided to stay.

Of course, we'd switched schools again, for the umpteenth time, and we started yet another school in Council Bluffs, while we lived in a one room cabin with 2 duplicate beds, one bathroom, a crock pot to cook in and three cats. We started one school, but were the "poor kids" and didn't fit in well. But, once again, we moved. This time it was a good thing. I was starting in the 9th grade, but at a completely separate school. This school was much better, much more acceptable, much less judgmental, and critical, and we weren't treated as "low class scum" here.

I was finally 14 at this time. My last year before I got to start high school. I was so excited! I was finally growing up, started wearing makeup, fixing my hair, and thinking about the big "B" word...Boys!!! We were living in a house fairly near the school, so it was in walking distance. My mom was once again working at one of the truck stops nearby. But money was tight, so my mom brought a truck driver home to live with us to help pay the bills. Well this guy was 28. My mom worked the all night shift at the truck stop, and Terry would be home most nights, and on runs While the days for the most part. Well Terry took quite a liking to me immediately. Now mind you, I had just turned 14. My sister and I shared a bedroom, my brother had one to the left of us, and across the hall was Sue's room (a girl/lady in her early 20s from Indiana), person that Terry had found hitch hiking one day on his trip out-of-town, and brought to our house to stay with us too. So, that was one more person to help pay the bills. But, to get to the bathroom, we had to walk through a petite hallway, and we had to go through Sue's room to get there. Then to the left was the bathroom, and then to the right was Terry's bedroom. My mom's room was on the main floor. In between the bathroom and Terry's bedroom was a second door. The door locked from Terry's side of the room, but not from his room into the bathroom. Well at night, once Terry belief all of us kids were asleep in bed, he would come into my room, and once again, night after night, those infamous "roaming fingers" of yet another guy, would start their traveling. He would come in, with a condom on, already ready for anything I guess he had hopes for. He would ask me to put on something "sexy." I didn't have anything "sexy" because I was 14-years-old, and "sexy" was not something I was thinking about at that point in my life. Heck, just getting my makeup to look good in the morning, and curling my hair before school was as "sexy" as it got. His fingers roamed places that I didn't know existed. I used to pray, "Please Lord, let him think that I'm indeed asleep and go away tonight." Or I'd pray, "Please Lord, let my sister wake up so that she'll make adequate noise or something that he'd go away and leave me alone." He never got to the stage where we indeed forced full fledged sex on me, but night after night, we went through this ritual. Night after night he would go back to his room, and I would disgustedly cry myself to sleep. Night after night I wished my sister would please just Wake Up, just this once. But, she never seemed to, or so I thought, until many years later when I found out that she said that she was afraid to let us know that she was awake, because she was afraid he would come to her next. I can't blame her for that. I wished I could pretend so he'd leave me alone too, but, that wasn't the case.

Well one day Sue had asked me to go for a walk with her to talk. So, I did. She started telling me that Terry would come in to her room almost every night and do these "things" to her, ask her to "put on something "sexy," and his "roaming fingers" would start roaming with her too. That's when it all came out...I spilled what he had been doing to me as well. I pleaded and pleaded with her not to tell my mom because my mom would say, yet once again, that "it must be something I was doing to entice guys like this." My fault again. Well Sue, knowing how young I was, ended up telling my mom after all. So, my mom went and confronted Terry. He told her that he did it to me because "He loved me soooooo much that he couldn't resist wanting to make love to me." Well my mom told him to pack up and get out of our house. We went to my mom's friend's house for a few days while he moved out and because they were one vacation and needed person to house sit and care for their pets. So, we stayed there 3 nights and 4 days. Once we got back home, Terry was gone, and life seemed to go back to "normal" again. Sue and I felt such great peace having him gone. Then one day, about a week later, my mom said that she had to go to the truck stop because Terry wanted to talk to her about something. So, she left and was gone for some hours. When she came back, she said that Terry had convinced her that he indeed did do what he had done "because he loved me," and she said that it was a small price to pay since he offered to help pay even more of the bills we had. So, she let him move back in to our house with us. For the first week or two, he was very polite, pulled out the chairs for me when we would sit down at the table, and insisted on driving me to school so that he could kiss me good-bye each day to "let habitancy know that I was his." At this point, I tried to convince myself that okay, maybe he did indeed love me, and that I should be proud and flattered that person the age of 28 would like me, a 14-year-old juvenile girl.

Well a few more weeks went by and things had gone back to the way they were. My mom would go to work all night, and Terry would once again come back in to my room at nights, with condom in hand, and his roaming fingers would once again, starting roaming up and down, up and down. The words he spoke made me sick. And every night, it was was same, I would sickeningly cry myself to sleep because I could no longer deal with this at my age, and I was supposed to be having fun in school, finding send to my high school years, dances, proms, sports events, etc. But instead, I wouldn't see a hereafter at all. One day, I had had enough, and could no longer take it! I know my mom wanted and needed the money, but I couldn't pretend that I was okay anymore. I wasn't. I wanted to die. Yes, truly die! If it had not been for the Lord putting in my path a unavoidable girl at school, who I fast became best friends with, and my Science Teacher, whom I will never forget and always be grateful for, I might have ended it there. But, God obviously had other plans for me. Just when I belief that He had left me all alone, He provided me with a friend, and a man who not only was my teacher, but one who indeed cared about me, who knew that I was going through something terrible at home, who gave me compassion, extra time when I just couldn't couple on my assignments, and person who could make me laugh. I needed that. It brought back hope to me that All men did not just want me for sex. That older men were not all perverts, and that God had put him in my life, as my teacher, just in the nick of time.

Today, by God's grace, forgiveness, and compassion, I have been forgiven my the blood of the lamb, the Lord Jesus Himself. The person who died on that cross many, many years ago so that I might have life everlasting. The one who pulled me out of the darkness and back in to the light. The one who took away all my hurts and distrusts in men. I thank God that though I had to suffer through those awful times, that I came to learn that it was not my fault that the one guy had been electrocuted and died. That None of the things that these four men did to me as a child, were my fault.

To this day, my mother still says, "If those thing indeed happened to Kelly, then I guess I should have protected her more." If those things happened? If?!?! There is no interrogate that they happened me! My sister once told her that she knows it to be fact because most times she was in the same bed with me, as we almost always shared a bedroom while growing up. I no longer expect that my mother will ever take any responsibility for what I went through. I know that now. I know that I have to forgive her so that Christ can forgive me for my sins. But it is truly, and only by the Grace of God Himself, that I am still here today. It is my prayer that maybe, just maybe, this testimony will help person else who has been through something similar, or worse, that there Is hope in Jesus Christ. You are not alone. It is Not your fault. Give it to Him, as His shoulders are strong adequate to take it from you and let you now walk freely in His love.

*Names of habitancy have been changed to protect those others who were involved.

Kids' Japanese High Fashion - How to Make it More Affordable

Japanese high fashion is known for being audacious, loud, and bold. But it is also creative and awe-inspiring. These descriptions are not exactly the ones you'd aspire for in kid's clothing. A look at the popular Japanese or Japanese-inspired kid's clothing pieces, however, would chronicle that it works. The playful and colorful spirit of Japanese high fashion suits the aesthetics of kid's clothing fashion quite well. For instance, the popular school girl uniform fashion of the Japanese is excellent for puny girls because it becomes surprisingly conservative and expectedly cute when worn by a toddler.

There is one catch, however: Japanese kid's clothing is deemed to be expensive. This is true especially if you aim to buy authentic fashion pieces from Japan, as the country has the high cost of living (which means items from the country are pricey). Still, there are ways to achieve that Japanese look without spending too much.

Japanese School Girls

Instead of buying kid's clothing pieces from Japan, think buying Japanese-inspired clothing from discrete brick and mortar and online stores. You do not need to buy clothes from Shibuya or Harajuku (two major fashion and shopping destinations in Japan) to achieve that oriental look. Couple on the look, not the product.

Ironically, most of the Japanese fashion concepts citizen imitate now was influenced from American fashion. The road fashion popular in Harajuku, for instance, stemmed from the Japanese youth's attempts to emulate American fashion. This is why you can still generate a kid's clothing fashion ensemble from pieces you can buy in the country, whether online or offline.

You can also generate an affordable Japanese-inspired kid's clothing ensemble by using just one piece of Japanese clothing. Use this piece as the centerpiece of your kid's apparel. This way, the Japanese inspiration remains and you wouldn't have to spend tons of money.

For instance, Japanese high fashion is marked by a put-together elegance, a sure aggregate of high fashion and homemade ensemble. Use a Japanese trench coat (in colors such as grey or beige) to cover a more basic shirt and jeans apparel.

Avoid expensive designer brands when putting together a kid's clothing Japanese high fashion look. A look at the Japanese children's clothes for girls would chronicle that while most Japanese-inspired dresses are colorful and unique (such as the Lolita-inspired dresses, unblemished with the white frilly collar and the attached apron for effect), they are also deceptively simple. Select gradually priced brands over designer ones; no one would see the difference.

Of course, you can also find shop that sell affordable Japanese kid's clothing to help you put together that astonishing oriental look. Online shop ordinarily offer the most widespread kid's clothing catalog; take advantage of it. And since online clothing shop offer discounts and low prices, they are the most practical selection for creating a look that could be expensive if assembled elsewhere.

Japanese kid's clothing looks expensive and elegant, but that doesn't mean it has to be pricey. Focusing on settle on pieces and knowing where to buy these clothing items can make that astonishing Japanese look affordable.

The Meaning of a Smile - Why do Russians Smile so Seldom?

I think it is deeper in national traditions. Lets' see how it is! I have found a remarkable work in the Internet written by one of the Voronezh University Professor I.A. Sternin. I think he has given a good scientific base to this phenomenon.

He points out 14 distinguishing features of a typical Russian smile:

Japanese School Girls

1. Smile is Russian transportation is not a sign of politeness.

In American, English, German and Finnish communicative behavior it is. Smiles are primary when greeting or having a polite conversation. Russian writers have pointed out many times that a typical American smile seems non-natural and false to many Russians. They say, "Americans smile as if they are electric lights turned on", "their smile is something chronic", "an American face is generally teeth".

I don't mean to hurt Americans :) I'm trying to defend Russians from those blaming them of non-smiling.

Western smiles greeting person mean pure politeness. The more a person smiles the more friendliness he/she is showing to his/her partner.

Japanese girls at the entry to a absorbing staircase in large supermarkets smile and bow to each buyer - 2500 smiles and bows per day!

Russian population don't smile out of politeness. Visa versa, it is thought about to be bad to smile without any primary reasons. The Russian phrase "he smiled out of pure politeness" implies a negative attitude to the smiling person.

A constant polite smile is thought about a "smile on duty" in Russia and shows people's insincerity, closeness and unwillingness to show real feelings.

2. Russian population do not smile at strangers.

Russians smile only at their fellow guys. That's is why shop assistants never smile at customers (they don't know them personally!:). If a shops-assistant knows a buyer she shall smile at him/her.

3. It is not typical to Russian to give a smile in return.

An American wrote in the "Izvestiya" paper, "I don't know hwy but when looking at Russian convention officers checking our passports and smiling at them we never get a smile in return. When our eyes meet the eyes of some person walking along a street in Russia we never get a smile back." It is true: if a Russian person sees a stranger smiling at him he/she is confident to seek the presuppose of fun. Maybe something in his/her clothes or hairdo makes the gun so cheerful?

4. It is not typical for Russian to smile at a person whose eyes you met with your eyes by chance. Americans smile in such a case but Russians turn off their eyes.

5. Russians don't smile altogether looking at babies or pets. (I think it is a controversial utterance).

6. A Russian smile is a sign of personal attraction.

A Russian smile shows that a smiling person likes you. He/she is very friendly to you. That is why Russians smile only to fellow population because they cannot favor strangers.

7. Russians do not smile when working or doing something serious.

Customs officers do not smile because they are doing their serious business. The same thing is with sellers and waiters. It is a unique peculiarity of a Russian smile. Chase Manhattan Bank has a large note "If your operator didn't smile you tell the doorman and he will give you a dollar!"

Children mustn't smile when studying. Russian adults tell their kids, "Don't smile, be serious at school, preparing home task and when grown ups are talking to you!" One of the most tasteless remarks of a Russian teacher is, "Why are you smiling? Stop it and start writing".

Serving staff has never smile din Russia. Since early times clerks, salesmen, waiters and servants have been polite and courteous but never smiling. Now we have to make a smile a pro requirement to all the aid staff members because it is not gonna appear otherwise:).

8. Russian smile is sincere. It is the expression of either high spirits or a good attitude to a partner.

Russians do not smile without presuppose (for example, to make the mood of a partner better, to make him/her feel pleased or hold him/her). One has to truly like the person he/she is smiling at or be in very high spirits to have the right for a smile.

9. A smile of a Russian person should have a enough reason, which is obvious to others. It gives a person the right to smile from others' point of view. The Russian language has got the unique proverb missing in other languages, "Laughter without reasons is the sign of foolishness". Western mental population are unable to understand the logics of this proverb. A confident German teacher got the following explanation of the proverb, "If a person is laughing without presuppose he has problems with his/her head". He couldn't understand it and asked, "Why does the second utterance effect the first one??"

The presuppose of a smile should be obvious and clear to others. If they don't understand the presuppose or reconsider it insufficient for s smile they may break smiling and make a reproof, "What are you smiling at?"

10. The only worthy presuppose of a smile in Russian transportation is the wealth of a smiling person.

Carnegie's call for a smile arises the following examine among the Russian people, "Why smiling? No money paid, only problems all over, and you say, "smile"..." Thus, for Russians a smile is not an possible part of transportation but a reflection of their conditions, mood and material wealth.

11. It is not typical for the Russian communicational culture to smile in order to cheer up or make others cheer up. A Russian person will hardly smile without obvious wealth or very high spirits.

A confident Japanese documentary about the accident landing showed the chapter with a stewardess smiling at her passengers before the accident landing. After the landing was over she fell down writhed in hysterics. So, she fulfilled her pro duty having calmed down the passengers.

Russian collective belief condemns a smile of self-encouraging, "Her husband has left her but she is smiling", "she has got a great amount of children but she is smiling" and so on. All these phrases condemn a smile of a woman who is trying not to lose courage in a hard situation.

12. In a pure Russian consciousness a smile need a proper time for appearing. It is thought about an independent action, which is very often unnecessary and annoying. an additional one Russian proverb says, "Business takes time, fun takes an hour".

13. A smile should fit the situation from the point of view of the population around.

The commonest situations of Russian communications do not supplementary smiles. population do not smile in a tense situation. They say, "Not a proper time for smiling". It is not thought about good to smile near population having serious problems or troubles (if they others are aware of them of course): illness, personal problems and so on.

14. Russians do not truly distinguish between a smile and laughter. They often mix up these two phenomena.

Very often population say to smiling population in Russia, "What's funny? I don't understand!" or "Have I said something to make you laugh?".

The windup of the author is as follows: the Russians are cheerful and wit in general. It is natural for them not to hide their feelings and moods.

However, everyday life of a Russian person has all the time been a constant struggle and survival; lives of many Russian population were very hard and some serious concern has come to be a constant expression of their faces. A smile in such circumstances is an exception meaning wealth, high spirits. Only a few population can have it altogether (and rather seldom). It is obvious to everyone and very often may arise questions like "hey, why smiling?...", envy and even dislike.

So if you a smile at a Russian person and get no smile in return, don't feel surprised or hurt. reconsider it an exotic national tradition :))

Well, commerce, shop relations and other values of a dissimilar world are gently bringing the habit of smiling "out of pure politeness" and "making a good impression" to Russia. Right are the Chinese, «If you cannot smile you cannot trade well!» :-))

famous Historic American Homes

There are a plethora of historic homes existing in the U.S. Today. Some are noted for their association to our patrimony as a nation. Others are supreme for their association to crime, criminals and movie stars. And, of course, you've got literary greats, real estate tycoons, media moguls, issue giants and all the rest. Here, you'll find just a few with details that might surprise you.

Robert E. Lee's old home, Aka Custis-Lee Mansion, became home of the honorable Arlington National Cemetery. Overlooking the Potomac River, the Greek revival style manor was selected by the government as the site for the cemetery to ensure that Lee never again returned to his home after the Civil War. Sitting on 1,100 acres, the mansion hosts two kitchens for the summer and winter. The most important features of the estate are the eight massive, 5-feet-in-diameter columns supporting the portico. The mansion is managed by the National Park Service, while the surrounding grounds, known as Arlington National Cemetery, are managed by the U.S. Department of the Army.

William Randolph Hearst, newspaper magnate and grandfather to the infamous Patti Hearst, once owned a mansion at 1101 N. Beverly Dr. In Beverly Hills, California with his actress girlfriend Marion Davies. Built in 1926, it's estimated worth is 5 million with 9 bedrooms, 15 bathrooms, 20,570 square feet of living and sits on a 153,766 square foot lot. Just a small slice of heaven right there exterior of Hollywood. If you were in the store to buy the property with a 30-year, fixed-rate loan at, let's say, 4.91 percent with 20 percent down, you'd have estimated monthly payments of just ,645. Can you say cha-ching?!

George Washington Vanderbilt Ii completed the construction of the Biltmore Estate in 1895, which is placed in Asheville, North Carolina. With 250 rooms in 175,000 square feet of living space, the home is the largest privately owned estate in the U.S., and is still owned by Vanderbilt's grandson, William A. V. Cecil Ii. The French Broad River divides the estate in half. Resting magnificently on 8,000 acres, the mansion echoes the sentiment of an elaborate French chateau and the excesses of the America's Gilded Age. It was inducted in the National Historical society and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1964. Tourists worldwide visit the palatial estate throughout the year. Featured are a 70,000 gallon indoor swimming pool, a bowling alley, a two-story library, dated antiquities throughout and 75 acres of formal gardens with a winery and triple A, 4-diamond, 213-room hotel called the Inn on Biltmore Estate. Tickets to tour the estate may be purchased in progress on the Biltmore website.

David Gamble of Proctor & Gamble fame hired architectural firm Greene & Greene (G&G) to compose the Gamble House (Aka David B. Gamble House), which was completed by 1909. placed in Pasadena, California, the estate was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1977. Matching inlay was designed by G&G for the custom-made furniture and tile mantle surrounds, which were built by contractors Peter and John Hall. A private door that leads to the kitchen is private in one of the wooden panels of the entry hall. Another panel leads to a clothes closet. The three-story, Arts and Crafts masterpiece, influenced by Japanese aesthetics, sits on an mountainous acreage decorated generously with Arroyo stone paths that give the ensue of running brooks. Realizing the artistic importance of the estate, the Gamble family deeded Gamble House in joint rights to the City of Pasadena and the University of Southern California School of Architecture in 1966.

Al Capone stunned law compulsion with his potential to divert indictments and skirt the law. Infamous for his crime syndicate leadership while the Prohibition Era, Capone lived much more modestly in private in dissimilarity to his flamboyant group persona. placed at 7244 S. Prairie Avenue in Chicago, Capone's 4-bedroom, 2-bath, modest unit in the multi-family home was built in 1908. Last heard, the home was for sale for a mere 0,000. If you wanted to buy it at a 30-year, fixed-rate loan at 4.92 percent with 20 percent down, you'd pay an estimated ,915 per month.

Nathaniel Hawthorne immortalized the House of the Seven Gables in his literary fictional novel with the same name. placed in Salem, Massachusetts, the home is currently a non-profit museum and still functions as an active community house hosting programs for children. Although Hawthorne never lived in the home, he visited his cousin Susannah Ingersoll who lived in the home when he was growing up. One quite clever creation found in the home is what looks like a wooden closet. The false back, however, opens to a private staircase important up to the attic.

Erotica king Hugh Hefner lives in his current Playboy Mansion (Aka Playboy Mansion West) in Los Angeles, California. placed at 10236 Charing Cross Road in Holmby Hills, the manor is supreme for its lavish parties and rumored orgies. Built in 1927, the 14,217 square foot home sits on a 219,107 square foot lot and was acquired by Hefner in 1971 for .1 million. With 29 rooms, the estate hosts a game room, wine cellar, an aviary, a zoo, tennis courts, waterfall and a swimming pool, along with a sauna and bathhouse. One room in the palatial home known as the "Elvis Suite" has been kept off limits to group viewing. Hefner said the room holds sentiment due to the one night that Elvis Presley stayed in it in the early seventies. He was accompanied by no less than eight girls. Although, sports stars, movies stars and rappers request the suite when they come there, Hefner says he's kept it off limits.

Erotica and Roleplay

In Japan, where cosplay is seen as the embodiment of a character and acting out specific roles, it is not uncommon for its institution to be explored in most adult relationships. Determined a sexual fetish, many embrace the ideals of whether cross dressing - where the males take on the roles of females and vice versa - or seeing their partners in maid, nurses or high-school girls' uniforms. The latter two roles seem to be the most popular as the fantasy of having subservient or helpless females at their bidding, gives the male a sense of authority and power while sex. The adult industry, in Japan, do not shy away from exploring such 'taboo' situations and cater to specialized hotels or facilities that supply cosplay options for their visitors.

The term hentai, which refers to sexually explicit or pornographic material, is a genre all of its own in the sex industry. Explicit adult video games, or Japanese eroge, typically have themes that reflect the weak female (maids, nurses or school girls) at the mercy of their male torturers. These are quite popular among the male citizen and earn millions of yen annually.

Japanese School Girls

Another genre that's all the rage in Japan is the role of the Av (adult video) girl. Unlike the Western culture where porn stars are not treated with much respect, the same could not be said for their counterparts in the East. Some preeminent actresses (many in dramatic movie or Tv roles) today got their starts as Av girls, or some end up becoming Av girls when they can no longer find work in mainstream television. With these girls earning as much as four million yen a year - in a market that makes up approximately 30% of all Japan video rentals - the commerce is certainly one that's taking its place as a staple in society today.

The use of toys, in expanding to cosplay roles, adds to the excitement of the relationship. If the female takes on the role of a student, the most tasteless used toys are whips or bondage-related props; the ultimate idea of subservience between partners. Other theme is the doctor-nurse relationship, where the use of some actual curative devices like the speculum is used while the act. Some even find satisfaction with more customary themes, selecting to role play feudal lords and mistresses of the court with more explicate costumes. For creativity breeds more entertainment.

Anime impart - Black Cat Dvd 1 (Episodes 1-3)

Have you heard this one before? A man in his 20's who comes from a brutal childhood where his parents were murdered is taken in by an assassin society. Straight through true training, eating tofu (just kidding about that part), and hardening his emotions; he morphs into their top 'eraser' in the organization. The man has a turning point in his life where he realizes that he doesn't have to kill if he doesn't want to and the community chooses not to hear that so they want his head.

Sounds like the movie 'Wanted' or Roushin Kenshin anime, right? Actually, this story is the anime called Black Cat. Although this recipe has been Straight through the wash, rinse, and dry cycle before, Black Cat (Bc for short) has adequate high octane action and eccentric characters to make you want to know what happens next. Your interest will be more than the passing interest of a highway car wreck.

Japanese School Girls

(Spoilers Ahead...Read At Your Own Risk)

Bc is powered by the atypical tormented assassin plot and what make the story (penned by Kentaro Yabuki, manga author and illustrator "Yamato Gensouki" and "To Love-Ru") so enjoyable to watch is the outlandish characters that poke around in this realm. Each bringing their own unique flair and eccentric behavior to help color what would have been a very mediocre experience.

Now how do all these different characters intertwine with each others or cross each other paths is masterfully done. The one we are introduced to first is, of course, Bc (whose real name is Train Heartnet. You may have the deer in the headlights look now due to his name). Now mind you, Bc has as much character depth in the starting lesson as a soggy Dixie paper cup. Still, he is intelligent to watch as he executes (pun intended) his missions with deadly accuracy, swift killing, and relentless resolve. Bc is a pawn used by the assassin community 'Chronos' that has groomed him to be the very best. In fact, his reputation is feared and legendary in the society.

Next, we are introduced to the comedic Sven Vollfied, a sweeper (another term for bounty hunter who does not kill, instead captures their enemies). Sven is a hilarious hodgepodge of zaniness and svelte. Sven dresses similar to a metrosexual Panama Jack, has green hair (what is up with the animators obsession with green or purple hair for characters is still beyond me), a trick suitcase (he reminds you of the bumbling Inspector Gadget), a love of chivalry, and a desire for food and cigarettes. Sven's light heartedness is evened out with his sensational ability to use his prophetic eye to foresee the time to come (he covers his eye with a patch) most times. In spite of his awkwardness, Sven is no pushover by any means in the fighting department either.

Sven is a penniless sweeper he realizes that in order to do his job, he will need to legitimately catch bounties to get paid (a novel idea!). Sven begins to target the new appointed mayor who is scoundrel. Sven, like a methodical hunter, considered plots his project to capture him. There is only one qoute though. Chronos has targeted the mayor for operation and has directed Bc to do the wet work (assassination). During a gala where the mayor is singing his own praise and adoration, Sven is going to move in for the caging. Abruptly, Bc enters in like a living shadow while weaving Straight through bumbling guards and executes a swift and flawless kill (of course, there is tough guy talk before the kill). Sven confronts Bc questioning why he killed the mayor and Bc, cold and calculating, answers, "That is what I do."

After the elimination of the mayor, Bc begins to struggle with his past and his flashbacks enduringly haunt him. One night as he is feeding his cat on the rooftop, he meets Saya Minatsuki (another sweeper). Her weird quirks (drinking cat's milk) and flashy komodo adds more depth to her as she befriends Bc. She begins to school Bc about the religious doctrine of the power of mind over gun (life over death) especially since Bc is trained the exact opposite. Saya proves her core religious doctrine when she catches a risky and vicious lady killer with the help of Bc and does not execute the criminal. Puzzled, Bc asks again why she didn't gun down the criminal. She is the voice in the wilderness for Bc when she drops into his conscientiousness a seed of wisdom that haunts him forever. Saya quips confidently, "I don't have to. I operate the actions of the gun. My gun can be used for good or evil." This becomes the restoring phrase that starts Bc on his road to redemption.

Meanwhile, Sven is starting a new adventure. After Sven saves a damsel in distress from a host of thugs, the damsel pleads for his help to recovery her "little sister." Desperate and considered to prove that he can still get the job done plus his stomach is enduringly growling, he accepts the job to recovery his newly acquired client's sister Eventually, Sven, with Csi exactness; figures out that the person who is hiring him to get her "sister" is none other than Rinsett Walker, an unparalleled thief. Rinsett is the excellent match for him because she is proficient in disguises and carries large sums of money (much to the chagrin of our disfavored anti-hero).

The "sister" that Rinsett refers to is a familiar persona type that is often added in most J-Anime, a dinky girl who is angelic in looks and manner yet a possible powerhouse. Enter Eve. Eve is a living bio-weapon (she was taken by a lawbreaker boss who exploits her deadly powers for evil purposes).

Rinstett has a greedy motive though. She wants to capture Eve for her nanotechnology secrets surges Straight through Eve's body so she can give them to the highest bidder. During the procedure of the story, Sven has a opening to meet Eve who he takes under his wing and show her the path to the journey to become 'a real girl' since Eve has only known death and destruction. Sven and Eve speedily become close friends. There is a qoute though. Unbeknown to Sven, Chronos has targeted Eve for assassination as well (since she is a living weapon and has decimated an preparation with her powers) and they have sent Bc to unblemished this new wet work. What happens from there? You will need to watch the rest because you will be impressed at the fluidity of the story.

While I wasn't expecting Black Cat to be in the same vein of a say, Naruto with it's in depth characterization and gripping action prose (who I have grown fond of immensely), Black Cat is a surprising great jumping point to a potentially great series. As I watched the series, I was expecting the series to turn toward the direction of a D.N. Angel (Remember the highway car wreck example? That is how I felt while watching D.N. Angel) and with reluctance, I grudgingly endured the first few minutes of Black Cat. Like a classic car that takes awhile to get started and coast beautifully down the highway, Black Cat starts off rough (read: corny) and as the story travels over a few rough spots in the literacy road, you will be pleasingly surprised at how smooth the trip legitimately was.
